Gauging An Agencies Toxicity Level Before You Take The Job (Part One)

I’ve been freelancing for years. In fact, in the nature of what I do, I’m often called upon to white-label services and act on behalf of an agency. That means I’ve seen “behind the curtain” A LOT! Let’s be fair; all businesses no matter the size, have their shortcomings and issues — the degree and severity, of course, is what this article’s all about.

So many people ask me, "Why does it seem like you know everyone?" Well, my friends, that's very much by design. It’s true that I love people and I love being social. But the new-world rolodex (my social graph) is becoming increasingly valuable to your employer and your clients. Case in point: The other day I was speaking with a friend in a rapidly growing social media tool (look for an interview with him in an upcoming post). He asked, as many do, "Hey, do you know someone who does …" – in this case it was WordPress plug-in development.
If you had a chance to read any business news during the holidays, you probably saw several stories about retail spending being up significantly during Q4.
